Beautiful Vietnam in time-lapse videos

Beautiful Vietnam in time-lapse videos

Vietnam has mesmerized many photographers and inspired them to make vivid and colorful time-lapse videos in order to highlight the charm of this Southeast Asian country.

Time-lapse photography is a technique whereby the frequency at which film frames are captured is much lower than that used to view the sequence, according to Wikipedia. When played at normal speed, time appears to be moving faster and thus lapsing.

Early this month, photographer and filmmaker Alex Colom Jacob from Barcelona uploaded his video “Vietnam 2014 - From Saigon to Sapa” to the Internet.

The clip posted on April 3 depicts the beautiful landscapes of the places he visited, including Mui Ne, Da Lat, Hoi An, Hue, Ninh Binh and Sapa, during his trip to Vietnam from January 15 to February 14.

It is one of the first time-lapse videos describing the country from the northern to southern regions.

The clip maker told Tuoitrenews that during his one month traveling in Vietnam, he took many pictures and then spent two more months working every day to retouch and edit them before incorporating the photos into his time-lapse footage.

“Usually when I travel to a country, I am dedicated to taking photographs, but then the pictures remain on my computer hard disk. This time, I decided to do something different and share it with people,” Jacob said. “Vietnam is very special! It's beautiful! I could do this time-lapse video because Vietnam has a lot of beautiful and incredible places.”

Last month, another time-lapse video, “Time of Da Nang,” fascinated many Vietnamese netizens.

The video made by local Le Van Anh has received nearly 54,000 views in addition to over 1,300 likes and lots of compliments from YouTube users after it was posted on the video-sharing site on March 29.

“Many pretty shots of Da Nang. People and the lifestyle there are beautiful, thank you very much for making this video,” Le Thi Bich Phuong commented.

Nineteen-year-old Anh’s video has been embraced because of its beautiful scenes and the young man’s expression of love for his homeland.

“I want to make something for the land where I was born and grew up,” Anh told Tuoitrenews.

“I love it with all my heart. Even that I couldn't deliver all the beauties of this city but I do hope that you guys would love it like I do,” Anh wrote about his work on YouTube.

Earlier, a series of time-lapse videos made by Nguyen The Duong also became Internet sensations, luring a lot of netizens who were infatuated with the beauty of Vietnam through the colorful scenery in the clips.

In June last year, Duong posted his video “Sai Gon – Nang Luong Bat Tan’ (Saigon - Endless Energy) on YouTube and got more than 20,000 views from the page’s users.

Previously, Duong stunned his viewers with his series of videos dedicated to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, including “Saigon Buoi Sang Cuoi Tuan” (Happy Day in a Young City), “Dem Saigon Lung Linh Sac Mau” (Exciting Night in a Young City), “10 Bung Binh Soi Dong Nhat Sai Gon Ve Dem” (Top 10 Crowded Roundabouts in Saigon at Night) and "30 Gio Kham Pha Thu Do Ngan Nam"(30 Hours Exploring the 1000-year-[old] Hanoi).
