- Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung began his visit to the Vatican on Saturday and met with Pope Francis and Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

Business

-  Deputy Minister of Transport Pham Quy Tieu apologized in his Saturday letter to Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Fukada Hiroshi  regarding his blunder in announcing that the Japanese government has pledged an ODA sum worth US$2 billion for Vietnam’s project of Long Thanh International Airport in southern Dong Nai Province.

- Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the investment in Trung Luong- My Thuan Expressway in the form of a build- operate-transfer (BOT) project as previously proposed by the Ministry of Transport.

- Binh Phuoc Province People’s Committee has approved Giai Tri Binh Phuoc Co.’s proposal to build an international horseracing stadium as part of Binh Phuoc Recreation Complex, which is expected to cost over US$100 million. 

- The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced on Saturday that India has decided to take anti-dumping legal actions against a model of plastic processing machine, which is imported from Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and Taiwan.

Society

- Assuming foul play regarding Nguyen Van Suu’s death while he was in prison following his arrest on October 14 for involvement in a brawl, his relatives placed his coffin at Mong Cai City Police in northern Quang Ninh Province on Saturday morning, demanding his cause of death clarified.

- A search and rescue (SAR 412) ship of the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center Zone 2 (Da Nang MRCC) towed the fishing vessel QNa 95078- TS along with its 34-member crew to safety at 9am on Saturday.

Lifestyle

- Vinahouse Space in central Vietnam’s Quang Nam Province set five national records for its century-old unique bamboo and ecological architecture on Saturday afternoon. The Vinahouse Museum- the country’s largest on time-honored houses- was also launched the same day.

Education

- The Ministry of Education and Training, Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper and IIG Vietnam - the representative of Certiport in Vietnam – officially launched the national round of the 2015 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC) at Ho Chi Minh City Foreign Trade University on Saturday afternoon.

- The 2014 TOEFL Junior Challenge kicks start today, with 22,300 English-excelling students from 228 junior high schools across HCMC to attend its first round.

- HCMC Vietnam National University has inked a deal with HCMC MobiFone, one of the country’s major mobile service providers.
