Good morning from Vietnam!Society -- Oyster farmers in the southern province of Ben Tre have seen their shellfish die en masse, as a result of high water salinity. -- The Trang Bom-Thong Nhat forest protection unit in the southern province of Dong Nai on Wednesday caught Le Duc Dung, 46, bringing around 100 forest birds. Dung was fined VND3 million (US$134) and the birds were released back into the forest. -- More than 22 percent of the buses at the two stations at 23/9 Park in District 1 and Cho Lon in District 6 have emissions exceed the allowable limit, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport’s recent inspection. -- Police in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong said they are taking testimonies from Nguyen Van Han, 49, while probing a case in which parents of two 6th graders reported that Han had repeatedly raped their children. -- Doctors from the General Hospital in the southern province of Dong Nai have successfully removed a 13kg tumor from the abdomen of 100-year-old patient N.T.C.Lifestyle -- The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have launched a contest on creating logos for the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, to be hosted by Vietnam next year. The contest is open to amateur and professional painters across the country until April 4. -- Hoi An Ancient Town in the central province of Quang Nam will organize the 2016 Hoi An International Food Festival from March 14 to 20. The fest will be joined by 12 chefs from countries like Germany, Russia, Turkey, the UK, and more.Education -- Two groups of students from Nguyen Thien Thanh High School in the southern province of Tra Vinh have created a kind of ‘magic chopsticks’ which can detect foods contaminated with chemicals.
