43-year-old Do Thi Tuyet Hanh died while being taken to Nhan Dan Gia Dinh Hospital yesterday evening after she was injured by a branch which fell from about 10 meters on Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Ward 1, Binh Thanh District,

The surprising accident occurred at about 6:30 pm while Hanh, a trader, was crossing the street towards a bus stop to catch a bus to her home in District 12 after a day of business.

The branch, which was about 4 meters long and 0.1 meters in diameter, fell hard on Hanh’s head, causing her to fall to the ground and faint in a pool of blood.

The ‘deadly’ branch was from a tree with the scientific name dipteracarpus alatus which is about 30 meters tall and numbered 106.

Binh Thanh District Police are coordinating with relevant agencies in investigating and handling the case.
