Vietnamese State President Truong Tan Sang will attend the United Nations Summit in New York from September 24 to 28 and visit Cuba during the three following days.
The summit will pass the new global agenda on the frameworks and strategic orientations for sustainable development from now until 2030, said Vu Anh Quang, head of the Department of International Organizations under the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
President Sang was invited to the summit by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the ministry said.
During his stay in the U.S., the president is scheduled to engage in nearly 30 bilateral and multilateral diplomatic activities, including delivering a speech at the UN’s plenary meeting and talking to Secretary General Ban.
After leaving the U.S., President Sang will pay an official visit to Cuba from September 28 to 30 at the invitation of his Cuban counterpart, Raul Castro Ruz.
During the visit, the two presidents will have talks on issues of mutual concern and witness the signing of many cooperation agreements in various fields, including oil and gas exploration and production.
