-- The Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery in the central province of Quang Tri on Wednesday received, and held the funeral for, the remains of 21 Vietnamese martyrs who died in Laos during wartime.

-- The Department of Health in the southern city of Can Tho has recently put a new mental hospital into operation. The new venue has the capacity of 100 beds and was constructed at a cost of VND103 billion (US$4.5 million).

-- The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has recently imposed a 12-month flight prohibition on a passenger named Tran Thi T., 44, who had yelled at and verbally attacked attendants aboard a Hanoi-bound Vietjet plane from Ho Chi Minh City on April 3, causing the flight to be delayed for nearly an hour.

-- The People's Court of Dai Loc District in the central province of Quang Nam has sentenced Lo Van Keo, 53, to 8.5 years in prison for transferring heroin from Nghe An to Quang Nam.

-- On May 17, the People’s Committee of the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and the government of Indonesia’s Padang City signed a deal for cooperation in agriculture, seafood processing, maritime management, tourism, education and proposed a plan to collaborate in fishing.

-- The Department of Health in the central city of Da Nang has recently concluded that 17 tourists, who showed signs of poisoning after eating chicken rice in the city over the weekend, were poisoned by the E.Coli bacteria in the pickles of the dish.

-- A 2016 survey on 5,500 people aged 25 to 64 showed forty percent suffered from hypertension, according to the National Institute of Nutrition.

-- The Vietnamese government will offer solutions to ease the fee burden on local enterprises, including the costs of tax and customs procedures, of using public services and infrastructure, and more. The commitment was made by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a meeting with enterprises on Wednesday.

-- Vietnamese movie lovers will see a large number of Vietnamese remakes of Korean films at the end of this year, including “Spellbound,” “Sunny,” “My Sassy Girl,” “Speed Scandal,” and “200 Pounds of Beauty.”
