-- Major hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are likely to run out of several types of rare medicine or those that are imported from other countries over red tape.

-- The tropical depression in the East Vietnam Sea became Storm Sonca on Sunday and is forecast to make landfall on north-central Vietnam.

-- Truong Hoa Binh, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Committee for Traffic Safety, has asked authorities to sternly punish the driver responsible for the multiple-vehicle crash in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City that killed two people on Saturday night.

-- A crew member aboard a Chinese-flagged ship is being treated at a hospital in the southern city of Vung Tau after he suffered a stroke when the vessel passed Vietnam’s sea on Saturday.

-- A 26-year-old man from the southern province of Binh Duong was electrocuted to death after trying to reconnect an electric wire on a utility post on Sunday morning. 

Business

-- Vietnam’s imports of milk and dairy products in June topped US$83 million, up 17.7 percent compared to May, according to statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

-- The number of Vietnamese visitors to South Korea in the first seven months of 2017 has reached nearly 178,000, up 30 percent year-on-year, a representative from the Korean Tourism Organization said.

-- A total of 45 three- and four-star hotels across Vietnam have had their certificates revoked following inspections by the National Administration of Tourism from the beginning of this year.

Education

-- Vietnam has bagged four gold medals and one silver medal at the International Physics Olympiad 2017 in Indonesia, the most outstanding achievement so far, the Ministry of Education and Training said on Sunday.
