Misbehaving player makes dishonest report

Three members of the national football team involved in the scandal over their misbehaviors at a recent match were Wednesday requested to make a report about the incident, and one of them was said to have provided incorrect information. After the team’s morning practice session, Van Quyet, Ngoc Duy, and Quoc Long, all coming from Hanoi T&T club, had to work with Nguyen Hai Huong, head of the disciplinary division, regarding their violent actions towards Saigon Xuan Thanh (SGXT) club during their National Cup final on August 29. Ngoc Duy was sent off the pitch at the 90th minute with his second yellow card after viciously fouling Nguyen Rogerio, after which Van Quyet jumped in, attempting to assault Rogerio, while Quoc Long turned to a photo reporter by the pitch and started badmouthing him. But Long told the disciplinary chief that he “didn’t have any bad words against the reporter.” The disciplinary division later contacted some reporters on duty and was stunned to hear stories totally different from what the footballer had claimed. The division thus called on the match’s organizers to provide them with video tapes of the match to clarify the incoherent reports of the misbehaving player. Earlier in an interview with Tuoi Tre, Long claimed he had not cursed the photo reporter, but simply told him: “An old man like you should watch your words.” Long also said he had not tried to provoke the reporters when he stood on the podium to receive prizes. He was just “saddened by the failure to win the cup.” But journalist Du Hai from The Thao TP.HCM (HCMC Sports) newspaper told Tuoi Tre that this testimony is incorrect. Hai said what Long had actually shouted at the reporter was “F..k you, you don’t know any f..king thing. Shut up!” “And on the podium, he showed an unconcealed provocation against the reporters around,” the journalist added.
