Hoang Minh Ha, from the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, has won the Vietnamese version of the American fashion reality show “Project Runway”. The finale aired yesterday, June 16.

At the show held at Lan Anh Stage in District 10 and broadcast live on VTV3, the three finalists, including Hoang Minh Ha, Chau Chan Hung and Lam Gia Khang, showcased their Spring-Summer collections under the theme “Paris Inspiration.”

Earlier, the three visited Paris to acknowledge one of the world’s most gorgeous cities, and then bring the beauty of the French capital into their designs. As soon as they returned from France, the designers worked hard on their collections.

With his collection inspired by the beauty of France’s beaches under the sunlight, Ha conquered the jury, which believed that he was the most improved contestant of the show’s first season. Ha’s collection was praised for its bold cut-outs and luxurious designs.

Meanwhile, Chau Chan Hung stunned the jury when he designed fabric for his clothes, while Lam Gia Khang left an impression with the young spirit of his collection.

Besides the VND500 million ($25,000) cash prize, the winner will have a chance to introduce his winning collection across eight pages in the well-known Harper’s Bazaar fashion magazine.

Begun two months ago, the show has drawn the attention of local media as well as local fashion lovers.

This year the competition’s judges included Vietnamese - American designer Chloe Dao, local designer Do Manh Cuong, Harpar’s Bazaar representative Tran Nguyen Thien Huong, and actress/model Ngo Thanh Van.

First aired in the US in 2004, “Project Runway” has been produced and broadcast in more than 100 countries, including the UK, Australia, Russia, South Korea, the Philippines and Finland, and attracts millions of views.
