New hotline for reporting power incidents

Tuesday, June 11, 2013, 16:11 GMT+7

The Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation on Monday set up a new hotline at 1900545454 to serve customers who want to contact the company. Everybody can use the line to report any incidents related to power, including power outage, make requests for installing electric meters or relocating meters, and ask about power prices or other information related to power consumption. Foreigners can use the line as operators can communicate with callers in both Vietnamese and English. This line replaces the previous one at 19001122 to which every call made would cost VND3,000 (US$0.14) per minute, a high charge that caused discontent among users. As previously reported, of the amount, VND1,039 per call was paid to the Corporation if the call was made from a fixed telephone and VND894 would be paid if the call was made from a mobile phone. Meanwhile, the much lower charges are applied for calls made to the new hotline: VND600 per minute for a call made from a fixed telephone and VND1,000 per minute for that from a cell phone. These charges will be collected by a unit of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) in accordance to relevant regulations and the Corporation will not keep any of the charges.
