Culture and Tourism Week colors up Da Lat

The Central Highlands city of Da Lat has become a colorful city with beautiful flowers and splendid decorations put on to serve the 2013 Da Lat Culture and Tourism Week, which kicked off Friday.

The culture week, running until December 31, includes the three main events: the 5th Flower Festival, the announcement of the 2014 Central Highlands – Da Lat National Tourism Year, and  the celebration of the city’s 120th anniversary.

The Friday opening ceremony saw the performances of over 1,700 artists and artisans from across the country.

Despite the cold weather, thousands of Vietnamese as well as foreign tourists have flocked to the city to enjoy the festive atmosphere.

A series of outdoor activities have been put on, including  the “Da Lat’s floral spaces” show, the “Da Lat Flower and ornamental creatures” display, the art show themed “The breath of the jungles,”  the Da Lat flower market sessions along Nguyen Van Cu Street,  the Da Lat champagne and specialty street, among many other events.

The organizers expect to welcome 200,000 tourists to the city on the occasion.
