Hanoi to begin piloting parking app in Hoan Kiem in May

Sunday, April 30, 2017, 15:16 GMT+7

Hanoi will start test-running on Monday an app allowing drivers to track car parking spaces and pay for the parking service on their smartphone.

The app, iParking, will be piloted in Hoan Kiem District from May 1 to August 1.

It provides a list of parking lots and the number of parking spots available around the location of the user.

The app also enables users to pay for the parking service on their smartphone.

A user can register multiple cars on the same account, choose the parking spot, and get updates on the number of vacancies at each parking lot.

The iParking app also displays parking charges stipulated by competent agencies, exempting the user from any rip-off.

Seventeen parking lots that can accommodate 248 vehicles on Tran Hung Dao and Ly Thuong Kiet Streets in Hoan Kiem will be connected to the app, with 16 of them operating from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm every day and the other operating around the clock in a week.

The iParking app was developed by Hanoi Parking Company and CIS Investment Joint Stock Company.

The firms claim iParking is now in operation in the U.S., France, the UK, Australia, Japan, Denmark, Japan, and Israel.
