-- Vietnam is poised to put aside at least US$1 billion until 2020 to develop projects that would help its Mekong Delta region adapt to climate change, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said on Wednesday during a conference in southern Can Tho City on the region’s sustainability.

-- An official from a national environmental protection watchdog in Vietnam reported on Tuesday that he had had nearly VND400 million ($17,000) in cash stolen from his hotel room while he was on an inspection trip to businesses in southern Long An Province.

-- Vietnam is looking to raise the tax on the production of plastic bags from VND40,000 ($2) per kilogram to VND200,000 ($9) per kilogram, an effort to cut down on its use.
