-- Dinh La Thang, the newly appointed chairman of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, on Friday attended the ceremoy to recognize Cu Chi Tunnel, one of the city’s famous attractions, as a national special relic site.

-- During the six days between February 7 to 12, when Vietnam observed the Lunar New Year, 253 traffic accidents occurred across the country, killing 160 people and injuring 248 others, according to the National Committee for Traffic Safety.

-- A woman was found dead after jumping from a bridge into a river in an apparent suicide in the northern province of Thanh Hoa on Friday. One of the two men who jumped to rescue her was also drown, while the other remained missing as of late the same day.Business

-- The trade department of the south-central province of Binh Thuan on Friday imposed a VND50 million ($2,450) fine on a local trader for importing Indian buffalo meat and sold them as Vietnamese beef.

-- Foul weather has forced budget airlines Vietjet and Jetstar Pacific to cancel, delay several flights to and from the central city of Vinh on Thursday and Friday, while national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines had none of their flights on the routes affected.

-- Rose prices have more than doubled and tripled in Vietnam as Valentine’s Day is drawing near.

-- Vietnam’s e-commerce revenue topped $4 billion in 2015 and is forecast to reach $10 billion by 2020, according to the Vietnam E-Commerce Association.
