-- China has withdrawn its oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 from Vietnamese waters in the East Vietnam Sea, more than two months after the drilling platform was deployed to the waters at the beginning of May. Xinhua said the oil rig had finished exploration.
-- Typhoon Rammasun, which made landfall in the Philippines on Tuesday, entered the East Vietnam Sea on early Wednesday.
-- China has released 13 Vietnamese fishermen aboard two fishing boats which they seized in the East Vietnam Sea, according to the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing.
Business:
-- Vo Huy Cuong, Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV), on Tuesday said the CAAV will publicly announce the causes of delays and cancellations of flights operated by all airlines under its management. Cuong asked the airlines to soon deal with problems behind flight delays and cancellations to better serve passengers.
-- The State Bank of Vietnam on Tuesday bought a U.S. dollar for VND21,200, VND100 higher than the buying rate listed by commercial banks in the country.

-- More than 300 photos, material, and other historical evidence asserting Vietnam’s sovereignty during various periods are on display at an exhibition entitled “Hoang Sa (Paracel), Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelagos – Vietnam’s Sovereignty” that opened to the public at the Vietnam Military History Museum in Hanoi on Tuesday.
Politics:
-- During talks with Vietnamese State President Truong Tan Sang in Hanoi on Tuesday, Hiroshi Watanabe, Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, said Japan will continue providing official development assistance for Vietnam. Watanabe underscored that Japan has a high interest in major projects in Vietnam, and plans to sign credit contracts to build the Vinh Tan 4 thermal power plant and others in Nghi Son, Vung Ang and Van Phong.
