-- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Tuesday welcomed his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife in the capital of Phnom Penh as part of PM Phuc’s ongoing visit to Cambodia and Laos.

-- Pham Sanh Chau, Secretary-General of the Vietnam National Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and assistant to the Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper on Monday that he will sit an interview for the position of the UNESCO general director on April 27 in Paris time.

-- Residents in Tan Phuoc District in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang have complained about the 200 metric tons of waste stealthily dumped by a local firm in recent times.

-- Leaders of An Giang Province in the Mekong Delta have proposed the evacuation of 20,000 households following the most recent land sinking case in which 14 houses were engulfed after a section of the Vam Nao riverbank in Cho Moi District subsided last weekend.

-- A 31-year-old man held the body of his lover after killing her in his home in Tu Ky District in the northern province of Hai Duong on Monday night, before staying put beneath his bed and threatening to commit suicide when police stormed into the residence.  

Business

-- Farmed barnacles have died en masse, causing hefty losses to farmers in several localities in the northern province of Quang Ninh, according to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

-- The Vietnam Competition Authority under the Ministry of Industry and Trade revealed on Tuesday that Brazil had launched anti-dumping investigations into welded steel pipes from Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand. 

Education

-- The Ministry of Education and Training, Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper and a local stationery producer on Tuesday jointly launched a program to encourage innovative educational projects among young teachers in Hanoi.

Lifestyle

-- A total of 10,000 entrance tickets to Dam Sen Theme Park in District 11, Ho Chi Minh City, where a festival will run from Saturday to Tuesday next week, will be gifted to winning participants in a history quiz program.
