The European Music Festival will take place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from November 18 to 29, the organizers said Monday in a press conference.

The fest will kick off at 8:00 pm on November 18 at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music with performances by Tolvan Big Band from Sweden, and at the Workers Theater in Hanoi with performances by German band Brandt Brauer Frick.

With a total of 19 concerts in the two cities, the fest will welcome solo artists, duos, trios and big bands from eight countries, including Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Sweden.

Hac San, a Vietnamese band whose work mainly combines Western heavy metal with local traditional music, will also perform.

Since its debut in 2013, the band has achieved tremendous success, namely winning the "Best Arrangement Musician" award for their three songs and the "Best Arrangement Musician of 2014" prize at the “Bai Hat Viet” (Vietnamese Songs) competition.

The 2015 European Music Festival is jointly organized by the Vietnam Performing Arts Center – Department of Performing Arts – Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, and eight embassies of EU member states in the Southeast Asian country.

Since its launch in 2001, the event has captured the attention of Vietnamese people, especially music fans.

It has delivered different genres of music, ranging from jazz melodies to great classic, contemporary as well as Vietnam’s traditional music.

Admission to the concerts is free of charge. Tickets can be reserved and obtained from 9:00 am, November 16 at the Goethe Institut and L'Espace in Hanoi and at the Goethe Institut and IDECAF in Ho Chi Minh City.
