-- Tropical storm Aere is forecast to weaken as it moves around 770 km to the northeast of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago in Vietnam’s central region on Sunday, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
-- The Ministry of Health has confirmed the fourth and fifth cases testing positive for Zika, caused by the mosquito-borne Zika virus, in Vietnam since April this year. The two female patients, one of whom is pregnant, are from Ho Chi Minh City and its neighbor, Binh Duong Province. Four foreigners have also informed Vietnamese localities of their infection during their stay in the Southeast Asian country.
-- The Hanoi People’s Committee on Saturday put into operation a solar waste treatment plant in a traditional craft village located in the outlying district of Dan Phuong.
-- The administration of the south-central province of Khanh Hoa revealed on Saturday that it is mulling expanding a beach along Pham Van Dong Street and connecting it with Tran Phu Street in downtown Nha Trang, in a bid to cope with the surging number of tourists to the beach city.
-- Doctors at the Pediatrics Hospital in Dong Nai Province’s Bien Hoa City, around 30 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, have reported a surge in the number of child patients admitted for pneumonia over the past two months.

-- Huynh Duc Tho, chair of the Da Nang People’s Committee, on Saturday signed a dispatch expressing his own and locals’ concern that a major river will be polluted by the Viet Phap Steel Limited Company plant, directly affecting the tap water supply for its residents. The administration of neighboring Quang Nam Province earlier announced that it had approved the steelmaker’s proposition to relocate the plant from the lowlands to a mountainous area.
-- Ho Chi Minh City Customs have announced that they will adopt measures in the last three months of 2016 to ensure tariffs on imported automobiles and alcoholic drinks will be collected timely and adequately.
-- On Saturday, Hanoi leaders and a subsidiary of Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup began construction of a national fair and exhibition complex, which will also house a five-star hotel and a mall, in Dong Anh District.
