Ho Chi Minh City university to host translation conference this weekend

Friday, January 15, 2016, 15:02 GMT+7

A conference on translation teaching in universities and junior colleges will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday, with the expected attendance of over one hundred local experts.

The event is being organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City.

It will take place on the campus of the university at 10-12 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1 from 7:45 am to 11:45 am.

It is meant to create a forum for translation instructors and experts to present their in-depth research on translation, the organizers said Thursday in a press release.

The conference is also intended to be an opportunity for instructors, experts and those who love translation to share and discuss their methods, knowledge, and experience in teaching translation in higher education.

The organizers said that they also want to foster the relations between translation training schools and translation companies in Vietnam.

Around 30 presentations are expected to be given at the conference, all related to translation teaching methods and theories, specialized translation, the application of linguistics and information technology to translation, and the management of translation training programs.

The conference will welcome nearly 150 representatives from universities, junior colleges and translation companies across the country.
