-- Vietnam and Myanmar on Thursday signed four cooperation documents in trade, culture, customs and education in Naypyidaw, witnessed by Vietnam’s Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Myanmar’s President Htin Kyaw.

-- During a reception in Hanoi on Thursday, Vietnam’s Deputy State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh suggested Governor of Japan’s Fukushima prefecture Masao Uchibori encourage Japanese firms to invest in Vietnam, especially in fields of industry, high-tech agriculture and renewable energy.

-- The Vietnamese government supports the Vietnamese and Australian defence ministries to strengthen practical and sustainable ties to match bilateral strategic partnership and contribute to peace, stability and development in Asia-Pacific and beyond, Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc stated at his reception for visiting Australian Defence Minister Marise Payne in Hanoi on Thursday.

-- A project to renovate the old drainage system in Ho Chi Minh City has been approved to be conducted with a VND429 billion (US$18.9 million) grant from Japan.

-- National carrier Vietnam Airlines has been voted among the top ten most famous brands in Vietnam by the Vietnam Intellectual Property Association on Thursday.

-- South African Phelan Energy Group wants to invest a solar power plant with the capacity up to 49.5MW and annual electricity output of approximate 90,000 MWh in the southern province of Binh Phuoc, the solar energy company announced after a meeting with local authorities on Thursday.

-- The Nguyen Van Chiem ‘Cuisine Street’ in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City will be piloted from August 28 with the participation of around 40 businesses from 6:00 am to 9:00 am and 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

-- Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien on Thursday rejected the rumor that the ministry withdrew performance license of U.S. singer Ariana Grande’s concert in Ho Chi Minh City, leading the pop star to cancel her show at last minute on Wednesday.
