Politics:

-- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong on Saturday reaffirmed  Vietnam’s constant policy in  developing and expanding the multi-faceted cooperation with Myanmar when he met with Thura U Shwe Mann, Speaker of the Assembly of the Union of Myanmar,  in Hanoi, adding that he hoped the two sides will promote their partnership in all fields, from politics and economics to culture.

-- Vietnam has always paid attention to disadvantaged labor groups in the society, and the country is willing to enhance cooperation and share experience it has gained  in human resources development, President Truong Tan Sang said in a remark in Hanoi on Saturday when receiving heads of delegations attending the 6th APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting.

-- The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisation (VUFO) and the Vietnam-Hungary Friendship Association on Saturday held a meeting at the Budapest eco-tourism site in northern province of Phu Tho to celebrate Vietnam’s National Day (September 2) and Hungary’s National Day (August 20) and deepen relations between the two countries.

Society:

-- The Ministry of Education and Training, in collaboration with APEC partners, on Saturday hosted an opening ceremony for the APEC Education and Training 2014 Exhibition, themed “Sharing knowledge and skills development for a dynamic and integrated APEC”, in Hanoi.  The 2-day event introduces new models of vocational training and university teaching, as well as new teaching equipment and technology.

Business:

-- Vietnam and Russia are stepping up efforts to conclude negotiations for the signing of a free trade agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan in early 2015, according to  the 17th session of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Governmental Committee on Economic-Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation wrapped up in  Vladivostok on Sunday. 

-- Commercial banks and credit rating agencies are will begin to provide loans without requiring collateral by evaluating company's portfolios and their leadership. "If assessments of payment capacity and business plans come up with proper results, credit institutions may provide trust loans," Nguyen Thi Hong, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, told the Vietnam News Agency.

-- Vietnamese exporters have the chance for expanding their market shares to Brazil as its government has temporarily lowered import tax to 2 percent from 16 percent on 250 types of goods, including 240 types of machines and equipment and 10 other IT and telecommunications products.
