Vietnam police arrest man for snatching i-Phone from New Zealander

A Vietnamese man has been captured for robbing a New Zealand visitor of an i-Phone at a popular tourist spot in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday.

According to local police, at some 10:25 pm on July 21, K.F. from New Zealand was using her i-Phone to film scenes at the intersection of Le Lai and Nguyen Thi Nghia Streets near the Pham Ngu Lao backpacker area in District 1 when a young man came from behind and snatched the handset from her. 

Local patrol police discovered the robbery and nabbed the man after a short chase.

The robber has been identified as 21-year-old Nguyen Van Tuan who confessed to police he is homeless and has wandered Ho Chi Minh City streets for more than one month.

Police are conducting procedures to hand back the i-Phone to the foreigner.
