During the visit of the Seychelles President to Vietnam, the two countries on Wednesday signed cooperation agreements on diplomacy, aviation, tourism and trade.  The signing of the agreements were made in Hanoi on August 28 at the witness of President Truong Tan Sang and his Seychelles counterpart James Alix Michel, who is on an official visit to Vietnam. The two leaders agreed that the signed deals will pave the way for both countries to chart a new development course for their future cooperation.

At their talks held earlier the same day, President Sang thanked the Seychelles government for recognizing Vietnam’s market economic status. He described the recognition as an important contribution to the traditional friendship, mutual trust and support between the two nations. The Presidents agreed to direct relevant ministries to take specific measures to tap the two countries’ cooperation potentials in such fields as investment, tourism, agriculture, seafood, oil and gas and renewable energy.

After telling his guest about Vietnam’s achievements during the renewal process, President Sang affirmed that Vietnam always wants to expand cooperation and mutual support for development with African countries, including Seychelles.

In reply, President James Alix Michel said he wishes Vietnam to continue reaping greater socio-economic development achievements to become a wealthy country with higher position and role in the world.

The two sides expressed their pleasure at the encouraging development of their multifaceted cooperation over the past time. Seychelles is now the African country that has the largest investment in Vietnam.

The Presidents also discussed regional and international issues of common concern and agreed to issue a Joint Statement between Vietnam and Seychelles after the Seychelles President wraps up his visit.
