-- Sand mining and deforestation have ravaged the Da Rang River and a special-use forest near Ca Pass in Tuy Hoa City, which is the capital city of the south-central province of Phu Yen, in recent times.

-- An aggressive bull contending in the qualification round of a bull fighting competition held on Saturday in Do Son District, located in the northern city of Hai Phong, without warning butted its owner, who died shortly later of critical injuries.    

-- More than 70 metric tons of fish raised at a farm in Chiem Hoa District were washed away and died in droves, causing damage worth up to VND4 billion (US$174,438), after water was let out from a reservoir of Tuyen Quang Hydroelectricity Plant, located in the namesake province, on Thursday.

-- The People’s Committee of the central city of Da Nang announced on Saturday they had proposed a plan to limit new vehicle registrations and encourage residents to use public transport.

-- On Saturday, nearly 100 people involved in a large gambling ring illegally operating in Cu M’Gar District in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak were escorted to Ho Chi Minh City for further investigation following a crackdown on Thursday.

-- Police in Ba Ria City, approximately 90 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, revealed on Saturday that preliminary investigation has linked the death of a 26-year-old man in a game shop early Friday to exhaustion following hours of going without water or food.  

-- On Saturday, more than 200 workers at Binh Hoa Industrial Park, situated in Chau Thanh District in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, were hospitalized for alleged food poisoning after having lunch at the company.

-- Vietnamese websites suffered more than 6,000 cyberattacks in the first six months of 2017, Nguyen Khac Lich, deputy director of the state-run Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team, has announced.

-- After years of languishing, Vietnamese poultry meat will be exported to Japan next week and Europe in the coming time, attendees were told at a seminar held in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department has sought assistance from the Financial - Monetary - Investment Security Department under the Ministry of Public Security to track down elusive owners of 19 businesses that had ceased operations in order to collect tax arrears totaling nearly VND120 billion ($5.2 million).
