On May 15, “Scar of Life 4 - The dreams,” an event to raise money for the Heartbeat Vietnam Fund to help children with cardiovascular diseases, raised US$144,800 from an auction and donations from participants.

The money is expected to pay for heart surgeries for 144 children.

At the event, actress Ngo Thanh Van, the fund’s ambassador-cum- organizer of the show, held in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 7, donated a set of jewelry for the auction and gained US$50,000.

The show also saw performances from renowned local artists including singers My Linh and Dam Vinh Hung and traditional dancer Linh Nga.

Launched in 2011 by Van in cooperation with the Vietnam Artist Agency, “Scar of Life” has helped save 575 children with cardiovascular diseases aged from 8 to 10 years old.

The actress explained that the name “Scar of life” is what remains on a child after a heart operation.
