Passengers who leave Vietnam via Tan Son Nhat International Airport will save time exiting the airport when a simplified baggage scan procedure is implemented from next month
The Ho Chi Minh City terminal currently requires passengers to have their carry-on and checked luggage scanned by two separate machines, with the procedures carried out by airport security and customs officers.
This frequently leads to overload and delays during peak hours, according to the Ministry of Transport.
The transport ministry thus called on its finance counterpart, which manages the General Department of Vietnam Customs, to combine the two procedures into one.
The finance ministry gave approval to the proposal, and requested that the simplified procedure be in place from November 15.
Tan Son Nhat security and customs officers will from this date run one mutual luggage scanning section, reducing the amount of time passengers spend waiting for their baggage before leaving Vietnam.
