Have a nice Sunday!Society -- The High Command of the Vietnam People's Navy and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on Saturday inaugurated a clinic on Song Tu Tay Island, part of Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago off south-central Khanh Hoa Province. -- The Agency of Press under the Ministry of Information and Communications has decided to fine Nong Thon Ngay Nay (Countryside Today) newspaper VND140 million (US$ 6,205) and required the newspaper to suspend its The Gioi Tiep Thi  (Marketing World) publication from print for three months, starting Saturday, for its violations in two articles. -- On Saturday, Le Van Hoang, director of the Department of Transport in Ben Tre Province in the Mekong Delta, went on a field trip to prepare for a proposal to the provincial People’s Committee on reviving the Rach Mieu ferry station in a bid to prevent or relieve congestion on the Rach Mieu Bridge, which opened to traffic seven years ago. -- Ho Chi Minh City police on Saturday affirmed that Viet Tan (Vietnam Reform) Party, a U.S.-based reactionary organization, was behind protests that broke out in the city on May 1 and 8. Viet Tan’s members took advantage of the mass fish deaths hitting several central provinces since early April to incite unsuspecting followers and cause social disorder. -- Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Cong Tac told the press on Saturday that the ministry is highly likely to work out scientifically sound and internationally accepted causes of the mass fish deaths hurting fish farmers in several central provinces since early April, and is working hard with competent agencies so as to announce the final conclusion as soon as possible.Business -- The head inspector of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment in northern Hoa Binh Province has told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that the provincial administration had decided to fine a local sugar plant VND480 million ($21,276) and suspend its operation for six months for dumping untreated water into the Buoi River, killing 17 metric tons of fish raised in 71 floating cages in the area. -- Many insiders and experts have expressed concerns and warned of serious health hazards in response to the Vietnamese Department of Animal Health’s shocking proposal made on Friday on importing poultry from China, while domestic chicken prices are falling over abundant supply.Education -- The Vietnam Institute for Advanced Studies in Mathematics on Saturday presented prizes, each worth more than VND28 million ($1,241), to authors of 86 research works published on international math journals in 2014 and 2015.Lifestyle -- A regulation issued on March 24 by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on banning beauty pageant queens and modeling contest winners from taking photos or filming images without or with offensive costumes, and accidentally or deliberately releasing them to the public takes effect today, May 15. The controversial rule, which also allows individuals and organizations to use music composers’ works without seeking their consent, has caused confusion and fury among industry insiders.
