A Vietnamese couturier has been selected along with other designers from nearly 40 countries to participate in a fashion show that opened in Italy on Thursday.

Nguyen Cong Tri, a locally famous fashion designer, and 99 other contemporary designers from 38 countries, including China, Japan and the U.S., are attending the “Origin Passion and Belief” show scheduled to take place from May 8 to 11 in Vicenza City.

They were chosen as the world’s 100 most well-known contemporary designers from about 15,000 candidates worldwide to join the fashion exhibition organized by Italian company Fiera Di Vicenza and “Not Just A Label,” a well-known website on contemporary fashion.

Tri’s latest collection, “The Purity of Water,” which includes water-inspired haute couture products which were made using such sophisticated decoration techniques as laser cutting, knitting, and printing on fabric, will be showcased at the show.

“Water is always a topic that never gets old, giving us a lot of creative ideas as it is indispensable in our daily lives.The collection this time will approach the world’s fashion trend while still highlighting Vietnam’s traditional handicraft. I hope to receive positive feedback when introducing my artworks,” Tri said.

In 2000, the 36-year-old designer first marked his name in the Vietnamese fashion industry after winning the first prize at Vietnam's Grand Prix with his Green Leaves collection.

He then started working with celebrities, designing their clothes and styling their photo shoots.

Tri is currently the owner of three fashion brands including KINconcept, KIN by Nguyen Cong Tri and Nguyen Cong Tri, enchanting thousands of fashion lovers with his sophisticated and fancy designs.
