A forum to discuss building partnership among and unlock the potential of three Indochinese countries was organized Tuesday in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.    The event was jointly held by the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment and Asia Development Bank (ADB), drawing the attentance of more than 100 delegates including high-ranking officials from Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, according to Vietnamese newspaper People’s Army. Leaders of localities in the triangle area, ADB representatives, and delegates from the three countries’ development partners also attended the forum. Addressing the event, Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh said the cooperation among the countries will spearhead the implementation of the programs and projects proposed by their leaders at a recent summit dedicated to the development of the three countries.  They will have more chances to share information on the potentials of the regional development and mobilize official development assistance from donors for investment in the Indochinese area, he added. For the three to achieve sustainable growth, it is necessary to draw up a joint vision, ADB Country Director Tomoyuki Kimura said, adding that these nations have to prepare a united roadmap and investment framework, identify priorities, use resources more effectively, and diversify investment sources. The organization of the forum has proved the competence and commitments of the five Vietnamese provinces, located in the triangle area covering 13 localities of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, during the area’s development process, Kimura confirmed. Vietnamese Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc stressed that the event is the chance for the leaders of ministries, agencies and localities of the three nations and international delegates to sort out specific measures for speeding up their countries’ socio economic development. He also pointed out difficulties and challenges such as poor infrastructure, low trade turnover, and a shortage of high-quality human resources. The official also directed that Vietnamese localities improve infrastructure, promote the development of border economic gates and markets, accelerate agriculture in accordance with poverty reduction objectives, increase competitiveness and push up administrative reforms, prevent crime, and protect the environment in this area.
