Wednesday, December 05, 2012, 16:28 GMT+7

120 couples will join a group wedding to be held by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Workers Support Center under the city’s Youth Union on December 12.

The participating brides and grooms are low-income workers who cannot afford to hold their private weddings. They are working at industrial zones around the city.

This year, the event will also see the participation of couples from provinces including Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ben Tre, Long An, Tien Giang, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Can Tho and Gia Lai.

Each couple will enjoy a full wedding ceremony, complete with cars, cakes, flowers, rings, photographs, costumes, makeup, and a parade around the city downtown, and also a gift of VND2 million ($100) in bank account. Moreover, 10 couples who are most disadvantaged will be gifted with a pair of diamond rings worth VND8 million per pair. Young brides and grooms will have chance to take part in a class to train skills for family life before the wedding, as well as a 2-day-one-night trip to Can Gio after the wedding.

In addition, the Group Wedding Club has been established, offering a place for old and new couples to exchange experiences.

Last year, the center held a group wedding for 80 couples.
