-- The Vietnamese government has just released a decree on implementing democracy in state administrative agencies.

Society

-- Several political leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, on Tuesday visited Nguyen Ba Thanh, chief of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs, at Da Nang Hospital in the central city of Da Nang, where he is receiving treatment for myelodysplastic syndrome. Thanh is now alert and can eat soup, porridge and some other easily digestible types of food.

-- The Vietnam Airport Traffic Management on Tuesday inaugurated the Hanoi Air Traffic Control Center. The three-year construction project cost VND750 billion (US$34.95 million).

-- About 4.5 percent of people in Hanoi, the majority of whom are young, were unemployed in 2014, the capital’s Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs told a Tuesday meeting.

-- Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security, said during an online meeting on traffic safety in Hanoi on Tuesday that his ministry’s agencies will secretly monitor the activities and performance of traffic policemen.

-- Hanoi police announced on Tuesday they had busted an illegal gold trading floor which showed signs of fraud worth VND270 billion ($12.58 million).

-- During a recent meeting between Japan’s SOL Holding Co. and the Dak Nong People’s Committee in the Central Highlands, representatives of the Japanese company reported the result of a one-year pilot program to grow Super Sorghum – an industrial plant typically used for brewing beer and producing sugar – in some Central Highlands provinces, and suggested Dak Nong hand over 1,000 hectares of bare hills for pilot cultivation. 

-- At a Tuesday meeting, General Director of the state-run Vietnamese electricity giant Vietnam Electricity (EVN) Pham Le Thanh proposed a hike in electricity prices this year to help EVN cover its loss of VND17 trillion ($792.25 million).

-- According to a representative of Honda Vietnam, Japan’s Honda Motor Corp is taking into consideration the possibility of moving its production line of 50cc motorbikes to Japan.

Sports

-- A large number of spectators in Gia Lai Province’s Pleiku City in the Central Highlands cannot wait to buy tickets to a match between their favorite home team, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, and Thanh Hoa in the third round of the 2015 Toyota V- League 1. Tickets for the match will be sold on Friday, one day prior to show time.
