Vietnam Government opens feedback site for business

Vietnam Government opens feedback site for business

A government-run website for businesses in Vietnam to submit feedback and suggestions to was introduced at a regular government press conference on Tuesday.

The move is an initiative by the Vietnamese government to crack down on interest groups and bribe-asking public officials.

The website, http://doanhnghiep.chinhphu.vn/, is in Vietnamese only and run by the Government Office, Minister and Chairman Mai Tien Dung said at Tuesday’s press conference.

The introduction of the feedback site falls in line with earlier statements by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who, during a speech at an investment promotion conference in Ha Nam Province in August, promised to open a website like this one to listen to suggestions by businesses in a timely manner.

In addition to submitting feedback via the site, businesses can also contact the hotline +84 80 48929 or send an e-mail to thongtinchinhphu@chinhphu.vn, according information provided on the website.

According to Minister Mai Tien Dung, in the near future the government would also like to introduce a similar website for citizens to submit individual questions, feedback, or suggestions.

Feedback would be responded to by the relevant authorities to which it is addressed, or whomever is responsible, Dung said.

The Minister and Chairman would be responsible for the overall monitoring of the process.

In response to a question on whether complaints about bribery would be processed by the website, Dung said the purpose of the website was to improve openness, transparency, integrity, and constructiveness of the Vietnamese government.

“I do acknowledge the existence of bribery. There are public officials that ask for bribes, or even bargain with businesses,” Dung asserted.

It was precisely to crack down on these acts, Dung said, that the Government had opened the website in the first place. The Minister went on to confirm that all relevant information would be transferred to the relevant bodies to be handled.

“We do not tolerate corruptive behaviors,” the Minister stressed.
