Vietnamese movie “In the name of love” directed by Luu Huynh has been nominated for the Contemporary World Cinema category and the People’s Choice Award at next month’s Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.

The movie, named “Lay Chong Nguoi ta” in Vietnamese, featuring local actors like Dinh Y Nhung, Huy Khanh and Thai Hoa, tells the story about the tough life of a young couple living in southern Vietnam after their child is kidnapped by a stranger.

It was finished in July and scheduled to be premiered nationwide on September 21. However, after watching the DVD version of the movie, the National Film Board has required the film’s producers to change some details. The board will make a decision on the film’s release date after watching the final version.

Founded in 1976, the Toronto International Film Festival has become one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. In 2010, 339 films from 59 countries were screened at the event.

This year, the festival which will take place from September 6 and 16, has attracted 350 entries all over the world.

In 2011, Vu Ngoc Dang’s gay-themed movie “Lost in Paradise” was nominated for the Discovery category for outstanding works from promising filmmakers around the world.
