-- The 2016 ‘Meeting between the Diplomatic Corps and Provinces’, an annual program hosted by the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry which invites diplomatic delegations to explore the culture and people of provinces and cities across Vietnam, commences today in Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.

-- Four hundred and ninety-six members of Vietnam’s lawmaking National Assembly for the 2016-2021 term were announced Thursday afternoon, four short of the 500-seat quota set out before the election.

-- British climber Aiden Webb, who had been missing since Friday last week while trekking in Fansipan Mountain in the northern Vietnamese province of Lao Cai, were found dead Thursday afternoon near a rock at an altitude of 2,800 meters, authorities said.

-- Samples of the water in Hoang Cau Lake in Hanoi, where fish were found washed ashore on Wednesday, have been taken by the National Institute for Food Control under the Ministry of Health to determine the cause, an official at the Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment said on Thursday.

-- Two suspects in the barbaric manhunt on Tuesday in Phu Tho Province in northern Vietnam have been arrested by police, while several others are being summoned for questioning, police officers announced on Thursday.

-- About 3,000 cases of substandard or fraudulent fertilizer, amounting up to 1,000 metric tons of fertilizer, are discovered every year, according to a recent report by the Market Surveillance Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Transport Department is asking for permission to place advertisements on all buses in the city to cut down on state subsidies.

-- A total of around 2,800 proposals and suggestions to the newly appointed Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha were sent to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper from May 11 to June 6, meant to bring a breath of fresh air to the country’s education system.
