Vietnam flight delayed due to bee swarm

Vietnam flight delayed due to bee swarm

Sunday, June 05, 2016, 10:50 GMT+7

A flight of national carrier Vietnam Airlines was delayed for nearly an hour on Saturday because a swarm of bees clustered on the plane nose.

When touching down in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday, the plane, coded VN265, from Hanoi, failed to attach to a passenger boarding bridge at Tan Son Nhat International Airport as planned since a swarm of bees suddenly appeared, an airline spokesperson said.

Hovering around the jet bridge, the bees barred the passengers from disembarking from the plane as scheduled, according to Vietnam Airlines.

The weird incident delayed the next flight of this aircraft for 40 minutes, the carrier said.

It is assumed that the swarm of bees formed after a rain on Saturday afternoon and gathered at the jet bridge when the aircraft landed.

The chief pilot thus waited for the ground service to drive the bees away to take on-board passengers to the terminal.

The swarm then moved and flocked to the radome before being shooed away again by ground service workers.
