Russia’s Premier Medvedev to visit Vietnam from April 5 to 7

Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev will pay an official visit to Vietnam from April 5 to 7 at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday.

New Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Vnukov Konstantin Vasilievich earlier announced the visit at a press conference with the media in Hanoi on March 13. At the press briefing, Ambassador Vasilievich also answered questions from the press on many fields of cooperation and high-level visits between the two countries. Asked by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper about the upcoming visit to Vietnam by PM Medvedev, Ambassador Vasilievich said it will lead to the signing of many agreements between the two countries. The ambassador also revealed that the event will cover many interesting spheres. He added that Vietnam’s President Truong Tan Sang will arrive in Moscow on May 9 to take part in many activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. When asked if Moscow will help increase Hanoi’s defensive military capacity, Ambassador Vasilievich said, “Russia and Vietnam will continue our bilateral military cooperation to make sure that Vietnam’s sky, earth, and territorial sea waters are strongly protected.”
