Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai is scheduled to pay an official visit to the Netherlands – the largest European investor in Vietnam – and Finland from September 22 to 26, at the invitation of the governments of the two European countries.

The Vietnamese official will discuss with his hosts in the Netherlands the realization of the agreements reached during the visit by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to Vietnam in June this year, the Vietnam Government Portal reported. Deputy PM Hai will co-chair the 4th session of the Vietnam – Netherlands Inter-governmental Commission on water management and climate change adaptation. Within the European Union, the Netherlands is now the biggest investor in Vietnam, with a registered capital of US$6.45 billion. This European country is also the third-biggest trading partner of the Southeast Asian nation, with an average two-way trade reaching $3.6 billion. In Finland, Deputy PM Hai and Finnish leaders are expected to discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation in trade and investment. They will also focus on the implementation of the development cooperation program between the two countries in the period 2013-2016 and discuss the orientations for post-2016 cooperation. Finnish investors have invested around $329 million in Vietnam and the two-way trade between the two nations has ranged from $200 to $250 million per year. Finland has granted a total non-refundable official development assistance worth $340 million to Vietnam.
