A group of 28 Myanmarese tourists were hospitalized over purported food poisoning during their trip in the popular tourist town of Da Lat, Lam Dong Province, located in Vietnam’s Central Highlands.
The foreigners were brought to the Lam Dong General Hospital at around 7:30 am on Saturday with symptoms including dizziness, stomachache, nausea, and diarrhea.
Following the treatment at the infirmary, 22 patients were discharged at 11:30 am on the same day.
The other six tourists continued to be treated at the hospital.
Initial information showed that the group of tourists had visited Da Lat City on Friday and had their meals at two local restaurants.
The symptoms started at around 3:00 pm on the same day.
Officers from the provincial Department of Immigration and the Department of Police are carrying out a probe to determine the cause of the incident.
In late October 2016, more than 34 Japanese students were admitted to a hospital over food poisoning shortly after their arrival in Tokyo following a trip to Ho Chi Minh City.
The food poisoning victims were members of a delegation of 263 students and teachers of several Japanese high schools, who had had dinner at the five-star New World Saigon Hotel in the southern Vietnamese hub.
Following an inspection, local authorities imposed a VND20 million (US$879) fine upon the New World Saigon Hotel for several violations in the design of its restaurant kitchen.
