More than 200 performers from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia will take part in a circus talent contest held in the Vietnamese capital early next week.
The Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Young Circus Talent Contest will take place at the Vietnam Circus and Vaudeville School in Cau Giay District, Hanoi from December 8 to 12.
Over 200 young artists aged 27 or less from six circus groups, including four from Vietnam, one from Laos and one from Cambodia, will compete with each other and give 34 performances during the contest.
The competition will feature six kinds of performance, including acrobatics, juggling, balance, magic, clowning, and sport circus.
The youngest artist in the competition is Vi Thi Van Ngoc, of the Tay ethnic minority in Vietnam.
Ngoc was born in 1991 and is currently a fourth-year student at the Vietnamese circus arts school.
Gold and silver medals will be presented to the most outstanding individuals and groups of performers while the judges will also pick out the best director and the best coach, newswire Vietnamplus reported.
The contest is expected to strengthen solidarity between the three countries, according to Nguyen Dang Chuong, head of the Vietnamese Department of Performing Arts.
It also provides an opportunity for young performers in the region to exchange experience, he added.
