Authorities in the Central Highlands have approved a VND19 billion (US$900,000) plan to carry out renovations on a well-known teacher training college.

Repair work will begin on the Pedagogical College of Da Lat next year as many parts of the school have deteriorated, the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province said.

The college’s architecture will remain intact despite the renovation, the committee noted.

This will be the first time the school has been renovated since 2001, when it was recognized as a national heritage site.

Built in 1927 by French architect Moncet, the college is considered one of 1,000 unique pieces of architecture of the 20th century by the International Union of Architects.

It was used as a college for the French and wealthy families of Vietnam in the past.

Now it serves as a school and tourist attraction for local and international visitors.
