Angola wishes to boost ties with Vietnam

Vice President of the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) Roberto Victor De Almeida told Vietnam’s Politburo member Le Hong Anh that Angola wants to develop comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam. The MPLA Vice President made the remarks at his talks with Anh, who is also Standing Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat, in Luanda on August 29, the last day of Anh’s three-day visit to Angola. The Angola official said he was grateful for the valuable support of the Vietnamese Party, State and people given to Angola, especially in agriculture, health care and education. He also expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s cause of national liberation in the past as well as the country’s significant achievements in the renewal process and national construction and defense today.

For his part, Le Hong Anh affirmed that Vietnam will try its best to promote the friendship and comprehensive cooperation with the Party and people of Angola, particularly in oil and gas, agriculture, health care, education, construction and telecommunications. Anh expressed his hope that the Angolan Government will continue creating good conditions for the Vietnamese community to live in the country.

Later the same day Anh had a meeting with Candida Teceira, member of the MPLA Central Committee, Minister of Science and Technology and Chairman of the Sub-committee of the Vietnam-Angola Joint Committee.

Earlier on August 28, during his visit Bengo province, the Politburo member was received by Joao Bernardo De Miranda, Politburo member and First Secretary of the Bengo provincial Party’s Committee.

During the reception, the two sides agreed to boost cooperation in agriculture, particularly in rice and coffee production.

The same day, Le Hong Anh paid a visit to Vietnamese Embassy in Angola and met representatives of the Vietnamese community in the country.
