President Truong Tan Sang has praised the efforts and achievements the People’s Police have made over the past 50 years.

Addressing a ceremony to mark 50 years of the People’s Police Day in Hanoi on July 20, Sang underlined that the Party, State and people always acknowledge the sacrifices, feat of arms and achievements to the nation’s revolution that the police has made over the years.

Globalisation and international integration have presented the country with many chances and challenges, he said.

In that context asked the police to fulfil their task of serving the Party, State and authorities at all levels as well as bring into full play the key role they play, along with the people, in combating crime, safeguarding national security and maintaining social order.

The police must strengthen its relationship with the people and fight negative and authoritarian phenomena in their work.

The President said he believes that upholding their glorious tradition, the people’s police will fulfil their tasks and help the country to reach its industrialisation and modernisation goals.

On behalf on the Party and State, President Sang presented the Ho Chi Minh Order to the General Police Department for Crime Prevention and the General Police Department for Managing Social Order and Safety.
