A Vietnamese female artist opened her painting exhibition in Berlin, the capital city of Germany, on Saturday with the aim of helping poor children in Vietnam, newswire Vietnamplus reported Sunday.

The exhibition, organized by Germany-based Viethaus Company, introduces 45 artworks made from rag and paper by Vietnamese artist Nguyen Thi Phi Loan.

Through Loan’s skillful hands, these materials were turned into sophisticated paintings on various topics, including women, patriotism, and the love of nature.

Visitors are allowed to buy Loan’s artworks. Fifty percent of the revenue will be used to support poor children in Vietnam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Loan showed her thrill of seeing the warm welcome of not only German and international visitors but also the Vietnamese community.

She expressed hopes that her artwork would help people learn about a new type of art.

The event, which is scheduled to wrap up on Monday, also welcomed Minister Counselor Pham Viet Chien and well-known Vietnamese artists such as pianist Nguyen Bich Tra, violinist Le Ngoc Anh Kiet, and violist Do Minh Thuan. The expo is part of the activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany.

The two countries established diplomatic ties on September 23, 1975.
