An environment-themed picture shot by a Vietnamese female photographer will be exhibited at an international expo opening in England next week, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism said on Thursday.
The “Fishing Net Making in Mekong Delta” photo, taken by Vietnamese photographer Do Tuyet Trinh, will be displayed at the “Atkins CIWEM Environmental Photographer of the Year 2014” exhibition to be held at the Royal Geographical Society in London from June 23 to July 4.
The artwork, which portrays women weaving fishing nets in the Mekong Delta’s fishing community, highlights the consequences of climate change as well as the unpredictability of annual flooding.
Besides being selected to join the exhibition in London, the photo shot in Bac Lieu Province in the Mekong Delta was also chosen as one of 53 best photos at another international photography contest organized in Australia, “The People & Planet International Photo Competition 2013.”
The London exhibition will display 80 selected artworks captured by amateur and professional photographers with various environment-related topics, including innovation, sustainable development, poverty, biodiversity, climate change, and population growth.
Do Tuyet Trinh, who was born in Hanoi, is an amateur photographer. Trinh joined a photojournalism workshop hosted by American journalist Joe Lippincott in 2010 and started pursuing her photography career after that.
The “Atkins CIWEM Environmental Photographer of the Year” exhibit is an international showcase for the very best in environmental photography and film. The contest honors amateur and professional photographers who share images of environmental and social issues.
