Police tell teacher to have penis tested to deny rumor

Police tell teacher to have penis tested to deny rumor

Police in Quang Nam province have told a local school principal to have his penis examined to deny a rumor that it had been cut after he had an adulterous sexual encounter with an official’s wife.

It is rumored that on April 30, T. - the said official - pretended to leave home to watch the Da Nang international fireworks competition. After T. left, his wife phoned Nguyen Tan Huong, principal of Phan Boi Chau secondary school, for a ‘rendezvous’ at her house.

T. later came back and caught red-handed the couple during intercourse. T. then gave Huong one of two options: either has penis or his leg cut off.

According to the rumor, Huong selected the first option and he himself severed his own penis and later had it reattached at a medical station in Que Son district.

Huong said the wide-spread rumor has seriously affected his mind, prestige, and family relations. “I will undergo tests in Tam Ky district to prove myself innocent [that his penis has never been severed]. I will send all the testing results to local authorities when they are available,” he told the media.

“They claim that I had an extramarital relationship with L.T.T. and that my penis was cut when our relations were caught red-handed. At first, I thought the rumor was just for fun, but after that it lingered and had a bad impact on my honor, prestige, and career,” he said.

Huong said he has a good relationship with people around but he is not aware why they spread the rumor to humiliate him. “The rumor is groundless. And even if this really happened, my wife would not leave me in peace,” he said.

Baseless rumor?

When reached by Phap Luat (Law) Newspaper, the husband T. said that the rumor is false, saying: “That day [April 30], I did not go to Da Nang as rumored. I stayed at home and visited some friends nearby instead. Someone even rumored that teacher Huong was taken to Cho Ray hospital to reattach his penis”.

“I’m not affected by this rumor but my wife is a victim of that because she is a teacher [deputy principal of the school]. I think they [those who spread this rumor] don’t want to see teacher Huong and my wife working there. There is another possibility that they want to destroy my prestige,” T., who is an official in Hiep Duc district, added.

Meanwhile, Hoang Van Hung, head of Hiep Duc Education and Training Division, confirmed that Huong had lodged a complaint to this agency and that Huong is a good principal and is respected by many colleagues.

According to Hung, the complaint has been forwarded to Hiep Duc People’s Committee, which is instructing the district police to probe this case.

The police duly suggested Huong have a penis test, upon which Huong agreed.

The fines for people engaging in extramarital relationships may be increased to VND5 million (US$240) under a recent draft decree. Accordingly, married people must pay a fine from $96 to $240, instead of just VND100,000-500,000 ($4.8-24) as present, if they are found marrying or living with another individuals like husband and wife.

At the same time, single people who get married to or cohabit with those who they know are married are subject to the same fines.
