-- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Vietnam on Thursday to commence his three-day visit which looked to promote full-fledged Vietnam-U.S. partnership, spokesperson of Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Hai Binh said the same day.

-- Three old condominiums in downtown Ho Chi Minh City at 155-157 Bui Vien (District 1), 128 Hai Ba Trung (District 1) and 440 Tran Hung Dao (District 5) need to be demolished and relocated to ensure safety of its residents, the municipal Department of Construction said in its report to the city’s administration.

-- The snail-paced Internet speed in Vietnam is expected to persist through the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, as problems with underwater Internet cables will not be fixed until February, according to local Internet providers.

-- 212 cases of Zika virus contraction have been reported in 11 Vietnamese provinces so far, the Preventive Healthcare Department said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

-- Vietnamese brewers produced a total of 3.787 billion liters of beer in 2016, according to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, which added that the number is expected to reach four billion in 2017.

-- Businesses that use antibiotics directly in animal husbandry will be subject to heavy fines, deputy director of the Animal Health Department Dam Quang Thanh said at a conference in Hanoi on Thursday.
