Three children in a province on the south-central coast of Vietnam were found dead after drowning on Tuesday, their parents said.

The victims, Lam Van Quang, 11, Lam Thi Huyen, 10, and Lam Van Huy, 7, were all students at Suoi Kiet Elementary School in Binh Thuan Province, said parents Lam Van Sy, 31, and Nguyen Thi Hang, 28, of Tanh Linh District, Binh Thuan Province.

According to the parents, Quang, Huyen, and Huy had asked their mother to let them play outside early in the evening.

Hang agreed but, later on, noticed it was getting late and her children had not returned home. Accompanied by some neighbors, she began searching for the kids.

The search party found the kids’ clothes on the lake bank 200 meters away from Hang’s house and discovered the three bodies in the water after a few dives.

The bodies were handed to the family for burial on Wednesday.
