There were around 600 guests coming to the film screening, including Pham Viet Chien, Minister Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany and many overseas Vietnamese, the film’s producer and distributor BHD announced.

“Quyen” was shown at Kino International, a film theater in Berlin, and will be screened in Vietnam, starting on Friday. Tomorrow, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Frankfurt will organize another screening, which is one of the main cultural activities conducted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to mark the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic ties.

Adapted from Vietnamese writer Nguyen Van Tho’s eponymous novel, “Quyen” was directed by Nguyen Phan Quang Binh and features both local and foreign actors including Gary Daniels from the UK and Tran Bao Son and Vu Ngoc Anh from Vietnam.

It tells the story of Quyen, a woman from Hanoi, and her husband, who fled from Russia to Germany in search of their promised land.

During their decade-long adventure, the couple go through ups and downs and demonstrate their burning desire and iron will to survive in a foreign country.
