-- A ceremony in tribute to the My Lai Massacre was Sunday held in the Son My Memorial area in Quang Ngai Province. This marked the 46th year when American troops killed 504 unarmed villagers on March 16, 1968 in the village of Son My.

-- Nguyen Tuan Anh, 34, was found dead Sunday on a passenger coach traveling from Binh Phuoc to Ho Chi Minh City when the vehicle arrived at the city’s Southern Bus Station. Initial reports said it was a case of sudden death as the man had remained conscious and been able to talk normally with his companion halfway through the journey.

-- A police officer in coastal Khanh Hoa Province died Sunday of brain injuries after being hit by a motorbike when he was on duty to search for the culprits who had recently slashed many local schoolgirls in the buttocks.

-- A house in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang was completely destroyed Sunday while two others were severely damaged by a fire that exploded from an electric cooker in the first house.

-- A bridge, with a 10-ton loading capacity, collapsed on Sunday after a truck crossed it with 60 tons of cement on board. The truck fell into the river beneath and slightly injured the driver, who managed to get out of the cabin and swam ashore.

-- The Electricity Group of Vietnam had to mobilize power from the diesel-fueled O Mon plant to maintain electricity supply for the south and southwestern regions on Sunday as a gas pipe problem has cut supply for two plants in Ca Mau, which is mainly in charge of the said regions.

-- The Vietnamese automobile market is suffering extremely poor consumption, with sellers lamenting that they could sell almost no cars over the last month while there are more sellers than buyers on the used car market.

-- The Minister of Industry and Trade issued Sunday a directive reminding its departments in cities and provinces across the country to pay close attention to foreign traders who are offering to buy produce from Vietnamese farmers in their localities. These purchases may cause social and economic disorders, the ministry warned.

-- The University of Information and Communication handed Sunday over 3,000 national flags and gifts to local fishermen who often sail to the Truong Sa fishery in the island district of Truong Sa, coastal Khanh Hoa Province, for their catches.
