-- Typhoon Nock-ten has been forecast to enter the East Vietnam Sea tonight, the National Center for Hydro- meteorological Forecasting stated, adding that it could dissipate at sea on Tuesday after being affected by a strong cold front from the north.

-- A fishing boat from the south-central Vietnamese province of Phu Yen on Saturday rescued two Filipino men who were drifting near Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.

-- Two teenagers, a 12-year-old and 14-year-old, in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang drowned on Saturday night after their boat capsized in the middle of a river.

-- Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Dinh La Thang on Sunday promised to provide people in Can Gio District with financial support to produce bird nests, as part of an effort to eliminate poverty in the area.

-- Police officers in District 9, Ho Chi Minh City, are probing a case in which a 52-year-old woman allegedly poured mouse poison into a pot of soup, which was being cooked by her niece to later sell to diners, out of personal conflicts.

-- Tan Tao Lo, 24, hailing from the northern province of Lao Cai, was sentenced to death on Sunday for robbing and murdering four people in a family, which happened in early August.  

-- All surgical operations at the Tri Duc General Hospital in Hanoi have ceased following the fatal complications of two patients after they underwent surgeries at the infirmary.

-- The prices of vegetables in Ho Chi Minh City have risen recently due to prolonged downpours.

-- Vietnam welcomed its 10-millionth visitor on Sunday, marking huge success in the country’s tourism this year, accompanied by a 20-percent increase in the number of foreign tourists.

-- Dinh Thanh Hai, a 13-year-old contestant from the central city of Da Nang, was named Vietnam’s first MasterChef Junior on Sunday night. The first episode of the competition was aired on national television on October 2.
